South African singer-songwriter Topcha Noula has returned with his third studio album,
Tshithu, released on November 15, 2024, under Junior Joe’s label, Voice in Production, and distributed by Ditto Music.
Following the success of his 2023 album Munna, this 16-track masterpiece showcases Noula’s versatility as an artist and
his ability to blend Afro-Gospel with elements of hip-hop and Afrobeat.
The album features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Rude Kid Venda, Khustar Rt, One Time Muimbi,
VP Talking, Pro Heed, Asa Tee, and JR Player. Production was spearheaded by Topcha Noula himself,
working alongside Jex Beats, General, Sleem Vusie, Stambo DeJay, and Benjie Magic Keys.
During a radio interview on Choice FM with Tlou DeDJ,
Topcha Noula revealed that Tshithu is deeply rooted in his personal experiences.
The title, which means “small thing” in Tshivenda, reflects his journey through depression and
the challenges of being underestimated in the music industry due to his stature and lack of local support.
“This album is my story. It’s about proving that even when people see you as small,
you can achieve great things,” Noula shared.
The lead single, Ndo Muneta featuring Asa Tee and JR Player, dropped on August 8, 2024,
setting the tone for the album with its vibrant Afro-Gospel and Afrobeat fusion with drill vibes.
The recording process for Tshithu began in 2022 and took place across multiple locations,
including Noula’s own studio in Khwekhwe Village, Limpopo, as well as Muimeli Media and SV Records in North West.
The album’s polished production and heartfelt lyrics demonstrate the artist’s dedication to his craft.
Tshithu has been met with positive reviews from critics and fans alike.
Aubreaction RSA praised the album, noting that “Topcha Noula worked harder on this project.”
The track Bongo emerged as a favorite. Ms Maake from MWA highlighted the album's demonstration of "
the musicality of today’s singers."
Tshithu is more than just an album; it’s a testament to Topcha Noula’s resilience and artistic growth.
The Afro-Gospel album, infused with Afrobeat and drill vibes, invites listeners to reflect, dance, and
celebrate the festive season with its infectious rhythms and heartfelt storytelling.
